My 9 days started with a full weekend in London doing a 3 day one on one workshop. But before meeting up with my student I met up with my good friend Adam and we spent the day shooting around Kings Cross before walking into the city. After stopping for a beer and something to eat l was lucky enough that he let me use his pride and Joy, the Leica M9. Wow, it didn’t take me long to fall head over heels in love with this amazing camera and let me tell you it was painful handing it back to him at the end of the day. The photos below are ones taken with the M9:
7pm that evening I said goodbye to Adam and his M9 (yes before you ask I did shed a tear leaving the M9) and met up with my student for our workshop. Humaira Is already a very good street photographer and someone who has a passion for street shooting, she also had a real excitement for being back in London. I don’t take the city of London for granted, but as you will see in upcoming blog I have been feeling a bit lost shooting in the same places, now seeing London through the eyes of Humaira and watching her running about and in some cases jumping about made me fall in love with this amazing city again. Humaira had only been in the country 3 hours when we met up and it was like being on the streets with the Tasmanian devil, I had no idea how I was going to calm her down, she was so much fun to watch. After a few hours, we stopped for something eat and she went home for some much-needed sleep, however, I was in London on a Friday night, there was no way I was not going to stay out for a while shooting. I didn’t get back to the hotel until just after 1am and was back on the streets at 8am, Saturday and Sunday were relentless as we shot all day and we ended our great weekend shooting on the iconic Brick Lane, which as everybody knows is a mecca for any street photography.
I had an amazing 3 days in London both with Humaira and with Adam, now I never thought I would say this but I was so glad to be back at home and back in my own bed.
I then spent the next 6 days shooting in Cambridge, the weather has been amazing here the UK, great light but hot, bloody hot. It’s been great for street photography and it’s rare that we get weather like this, so I had to make the most of it and boy did I.
When I checked my iPhone to see how many miles I had walked in the 9 days I got a shock, it read out at 106.78 miles no wonder I felt dead on my feet, going through the photos I know it was worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
I’ll be posting some of my favourite photos from the past 9 days below and I hope you enjoy them, you can now tell why I was so late with my blogs and for that I apologize for this.
Anyway enjoy the photos and I’ll catch up in the next blog.
