So, I made a spontaneous decision this morning. I don’t usually overthink things when I do this, but I had this idea to head to Manchester for a few hours of street photography. A few days back, I met this amazing person and photographer named Sean. We had a great time in Liverpool, talking about our love and passion for the art of photography. Sean is so genuine and passionate about his work. He doesn’t care what anyone else thinks of his photography. He just does what he loves, and that’s all that matters.
I thought it would be fun to invite Sean to join me in Blackpool. I sent him a quick message, and he enthusiastically accepted, even though he had a hangover. We met up and took the train straight to Blackpool. We spent the whole time chatting about photography, which is always a great distraction for me on public transport. But Sean made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. I don’t think I even thanked him for that. So, I’m doing it now. Thanks, Sean!
We had an amazing time in Blackpool. The weather was perfect - sunny and warm. The seafront was busy, but not too crowded, which was great for me. It’s crazy to think that when I have my camera in hand, I don’t seem to notice the people or noise around me.
There were tons of chances to snap some street shots, and within minutes of getting there, both Sean and I were snapping away like crazy. It’s always awesome to hang out with another photographer who knows what they’re doing. I was getting all sorts of inspiration from being on the streets with him. It wasn’t long before the banter started. We spent most of the time just teasing each other, laughing about our gear, the cheap Chinese-made Fujis that Sean uses compared to the handmade Leica I was using. I couldn’t believe how much gear Sean brought with him. Again, I spent ages teasing him, and trust me, Sean gives it just as good as he takes it. I haven’t felt this relaxed and connected around someone in ages.
All in all, my afternoon with Sean in Blackpool was incredible. We both came away with some amazing photos, and I developed a renewed appreciation for my passion. I have Sean to thank for this. This was one of the best days I’ve had on the streets since the day in Manchester with Leica.
