After spending the last few months sitting in Starbucks working on a few bits I decided to head-out to Cambridge, apart from my trip to Edinburgh over Christmas I hadn’t been out of my hometown in nearly 11 weeks. I went to Cambridge with a friend to start getting back into street photography. With the weather being dull I decided to work on my through the window project, most of the time it's a good idea to have a plan when you head out.
The only decision was, do I go up in the morning or wait until lunchtime, I opted for the morning arriving in Cambridge for 9am. The place was almost empty, as a bonus for me the only people around as those sitting in coffee houses, etc, perfect for my project. Within 20 minutes of arriving my mojo had once again found me, I was relaxed and focused on what I had to do, being surrounded by the familiar helped me no end and it was so nice being on the streets of Cambridge once again.
Edinburgh taught me that I don’t need to travel to far from home, my style of street photography doesn’t really show you the viewer much of the surrounding area, this is the intention on my part, I want my viewer to focus on the subject, not on where the photo was taken.
There is something to be said about spending most of one's time in the same cities over and over and I’ve written about the benefits of this in past blogs. I now once again have fresh eyes for Cambridge and I’m sure the same will be said of London.
A few photos from my day in Cambridge, enjoy
