It’s London baby, this past week I had a day in London with Matt Hall and it was a blast with good weather and great company. This was my first visit to London in 11 months and I was both excited and apprehensive, I was excited to be on the streets with Matt he always inspires and I’ve never had a bad day of photography with him and today was no different.
The appreciation came from shooting a full day with a new camera system, spoiler: I had nothing to be worried about. I’m not sure what kind of voodoo Sony is putting into their cameras but it works and my only thought is that they must have voodoo high priests working for them, or they’ve been to the crossroads and made a deal with the devil, whatever deal they’ve made trust me when I say its worth it and I thank them for selling their soul.
Let’s get back to my first day back in London in nearly a year somehow this city seemed fresh and new yet I felt right at home. I met with Matt at Liverpool station and we headed out into the city, we spent the day shooting around Stepney Green, Whitechapel and the city these are areas of London that most photographers never visit and I don’t understand why.
I brought two lenses with me, the Sony’s 85mm F1.4 GM and the still unused 28mm F2 and the 28mm is still unused, I couldn’t bring myself to switch out the 85mm, I was having so much fun shooting with this lens it made a nice change not to be worried about whether the photo is in focus or not.
Overall I spent 6 hours in the city shooting and it was 6 hours well spent and I can’t wait until my next visit.
This was one of those days where I couldn’t wait to get home and get the photos into the iMac, I haven’t had a day like that in years and it felt great having that feeling back. I was so happy with the results from my day and now I get to share them with you.
Until next time……
