Now we come to looking back at my colour photos from 2018, most of the photos I will be posting in this blog were shot using Fujifilm’s classic chrome film simulation. Before 2018 I would take the photos using the classic chrome simulation in camera and then transfer the photos into Lightroom and I’d add a preset that I had created. From the start of 2018 I feel as if I’ve grow more than any of previous years as a street photographer and I do believe that the Fujifilm film simulations have had a big role in this, so the more I shoot using classic chrome the more I’ve fallen in love with the look and feel, for me the simulation has a timeless feel and it adds consistency to my work.
When shooting in colour I like to use my Fujifilm X-T2 paired with the awesome 56mm F1.2 lens from Fujifilm, this set up lets me shoot at any time of the year and it doesn’t matter what the weather or light is like. Mostly I use this combination when I’m working on my through the window or London cabbies projects, this combination mixed with the classic chrome look gives nighttime London almost a magical feel and I love that.
When there's harsh sunlight and open spaces I like to use my Fujifilm X-E3 paired with one of my favourite Fujifilm lenses, 23mm F2, at the start of 2018 I was like enough that Fujifilm UK sent me an X-Pro 2 and X-E3 to test, both of these cameras were sent with the 23mm F2 and I fell for the lens so much that I bought one, along with buying the X-E3. This pair mixed with classic chrome is perfect for shooting on Oxford Street, London when the sun is setting, the look is something else as the photos below show
Like my monochrome photos I try not to edit too much, I really do love the look of the photos out of the camera, the Fujifilm film simulations are punchy and beautiful and for me at least they are perfect for street photography.
