From Monochrome to Fuji colour

For this blog, I thought I would talk about something a little different and explain when I made the decision to start using colour in my photography. I've always been a film noir fan, I love dark contrasts, shadows etc. I guess that's why I always shoot in Monochrome. I just see the world in black and white. When I'm out on the streets I have my camera set to monochrome with a red filter, I've always done this, just habit I guess. I find it easier to look at the photos on the back screen.

July 2016, I made the switch to shooting with a DSLR due to illness (it was the weight). I tried a few different cameras, but it was Fujifilm that I connected with. I bought a Fuji X-T10 and 35mm F2 lens and travelled to Brick Lane, London the following day.

When I tell you I was worried about using the Fuji on the streets I mean it.

I was worried about everything! The focus, could it keep up with me?

The image quality, would it be as good as my Nikon?

The ease of use, how would I find the functionality of the camera?

All the fear I had was gone within 20 minutes of using the camera. I fell in love with it. The real love came when I got home and started to look at the photos in Lightroom. The colours, Wow, I'd never seen anything like it before.

I was able to create a preset that still has a cinematic feel and look to it.

The Ridley Scott film Blade Runner was my inspiration for my preset, as the film is a modern-day film noir.

I've posted a few photos below showing the wonderful colours of Fujifilm with my own twist added:
