Seeing red

Friday 16th March Cambridge, at last, the weather is getting better, it feels like a warm summers day and for the first time in ages, I have great sunlight. I will say that when I arrived in Cambridge, there was no light and it was trying to rain, but after 2 hours the sun came out and this lead into a great day of street photography. I also meet up with a young photographer from my hometown, Barney Maguire (@raw_format on Instagram) and we had an amazing day of photography. It was nice being out with another photographer that shares my passion for street shooting, Barney really knows what to look for and how to get the best from a scene.

The streets of Cambridge when I arrived were empty after it started to warm up the streets filled up fast and the city came alive.

When I got home I started going through the photos, at the same time I was going through them I was talking to Christian Cross, I started to share some of the photos with him and he noticed that in 90% of the photos was the colour red, a ladys finger nails, a chair someone was sitting on, a person in the background etc. Now I didn’t notice the red when I was taking the photo's and I didn't head out looking for red. It's just nice when you can come back with good photos and there ends up being something that connects them together.

Christian said red is the most photographed colour in the street along with Yellow and blue, do you agree with him? For me I never really notice the colours on the street, I still see everything as monochrome and most of the time I have the camera set to Acros R, pehaps that why I have the camera set to Acros with a red filter. I am trying to get out of this habit, but I’ve been shooting like this for years and it’s not going to be easy.

Enjoy The photos.
