My hometown

Before I start this blog I want to apologise for the rant, your going to find out how much I hate my hometown, with that lets being

“Never mind that shit! Here comes Mongo!” Blazing Saddles

Bury St Edmunds is a small town in Suffolk, its a nice town for a quick visit, 5 minutes is more than long enough. The place is boring, the people are rude and It's as backward as you can get, think of the 70's film Deliverance or maybe the town of Rock Ridge from Blazing Saddles, you know where everyone is named Johnson and you have an idea on what I mean. So as much as I can help it I don't walk about the town and it's very rare that I would do street photography here, I might take the odd photo as I walk to the bus or train station. If I do go into town I’ll have my headphones on and my head down, the only place I frequent is Starbucks (I’m sat in there writing this blog).

The town used to be a nice place to live, but over the past 10 years its gotten worse with drug addicts, alcoholic's and other people with worse addictions, I just don’t feel safe here, in fact I feel safer in London than I do in my hometown, plus I find the people in London to be nicer and more approachable. When I walk around this town I feel like people are watching me and I’m more nervous about carrying my camera with me.

Over the past 6 years I’ve had more people yell at me for taking their photo and on a few occasions I’ve had people trying to grab my camera demanding that I delete their photo, the people here are horrible and what makes it worse the people that do have a problem with me taking their photos are the ones who walk around the town with sticks wedged so far up their asses that they would need surgery to have them removed, it reminds me of Blazing Saddles and in particular that one scene where Jim tells Bart “You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons.”

The drug addicts and alcoholic's don’t seem to give a shit, maybe it’s because they are so out of it they just don’t notice anything.

Now don’t get wrong there are some awesome people in the town and it’s a real pity that the bad elements bring the place down, I’m sure it’s the same everywhere and maybe it’s because I live here that it sticks out more or maybe it’s because the town is so small, as I didn’t find these problems when I was living in Cambridge, Chelmsford, London or in Toronto.

Ok, so why the rant, well first off Its good to get things of ones chest and second, this past week I went out with my camera and I ended up getting some good photos and yes before anyone asks I did get yelled at, I had 3 people demanding I delete their photos which I refused to do so. I don’t have a problem deleting a photo if someone asks nice, but you yell at me guess what, I’ll walk off and I won’t delete the photo. Again sorry for the rant.

Time for the photos, enjoy.......
