I’ve been visiting Soho in London’s west end for about 30 years and man a lot has changed. Not only has the place changed, but the people have also. Yes, the gay bars are still there, but now there's more coffee houses, named restaurants, and more hipster bars. So lots of changes, yet for the most part it still feels the same and for me at least I feel safe when visiting.
I feel drawn to shoot more in the area using my Fujifilm 56mm F1.2 lens, the depth of field that this lens has wow, You’ll see what I mean in the photos.
The Bokeh is beautiful and with the neons in Soho, trust me when I say its a match made in heaven.
The last few months I’ve started visiting Soho late at night and wow what a place I love it. The colors, the people, the noise everything is just so wonderful. Soho really does have a very different feel and look at night.
I try to venture to Soho at least twice a month and work on 2 projects:
The first is my though the window project, Soho is prefect for this as most people just don’t seem to notice or care about me taking photos.
The second is my London Cabbies project, why you might ask is Soho prefect for this?
You have people arriving in Taxi’s for a night out, you have people hailing for a taxi and then there are the taxis that are just using Soho as pass though.
Soho is an amazing area for street photography and I hope to continue visiting in the future.
