Street photography inside

I’ve been playing around with light inside buildings like the Tate Modern in London. This is where the Fuji 56mm F1.2 comes into its own. The F1.2 really helps in low light and of course mix that with the amazing iso that the X-T2 has and let me tell you it’s a match made in heaven.

So why shoot inside? Sometimes the light outside can be flat and uninspiring or maybe the weather is just awful (mind you, bad weather can be a street photographer’s dream) what ever the reason might be, you can end up having fun shooting inside. Remember that you don’t have to be in a gallery or museum, I’ve gotten some great photos sitting in Starbucks having a coffee. There is always a great photo to be had, you only need to keep your eyes open and camera ready.

When I was using my old DSLR I never would of thought of using it inside, the iso just wasn’t that good plus the focus wasn’t that great it would focus fast, but not always where I wanted. The Fujifilm cameras have changed all that for me and I now find myself inside more and more. Shooting somewhere like the Tate Modern I find that I slow right down, I might find a piece of art and just wait there for hours for the right person to walk past. Shooting inside gives me time to think about the photo, however this can drive me nuts. I’ve waited for hours where nothing happens, but that is street photography and thats what I enjoy. When i do get that photo ive been waiting for I get so excited I could shout out, most of the time I hold it in lol
