Most people hate it when it rains, I love it!
You see people running trying to find somewhere dry. The colours of the city are highlighted and then of course there’s the umbrellas! The colours, the shapes, the patterns etc.
I love trying to capture the rain drops around people, or the rain drops on windows. People use all sorts of things to try and keep themselves dry (you’ll see some of them in photos below). It always amazes me to see how people act in the rain. I find them to be a little crazy lol.
Its like watching headless chickens, they have no idea which way to run. You might have someone pass you on the left then a few seconds later they come back past you from the right. I have no idea why they do this? I also find myself asking if I do this. People don’t seem to notice each other when it's raining, they just want to get somewhere dry. Then you have the ones who find a doorway, its doesn’t matter if they block an entrance to a shop or someones house, they’ll do anything to stay dry.
Then you get puddles and thats starting me thinking about the photo that Henri cartier-bresson took:
I find myself waiting around puddles hoping to capture someone jumping over it, or stepping into it because they haven’t noticed it, I see this happening more today as people are always looking at their phones, instead of looking where they are going.
With all these things happening its amazing time for a street photographer like myself to be shooting and yes getting wet!! I don’t even notice myself getting wet when I’m shooting.
I Love the fact that my Fuji X-T2 is weather sealed, even if my lens isn’t…Oops!
Enjoy the photos and please let me know if you also like shooting in the rain.
